- A neutral environment for artistic liberty
- Promotion through hill channels
- Natural materials if use aligns with conservation efforts
- A chance to be part of something that isn’t inside

– Vincent Van Gogh
Artist Callout: Join a Community Land Art Project
Professional artists, those undiscovered, and everyone in between, this is an open call to create pieces that blend with the environment. Using natural materials for artistic expression can provide a range of emotions and help both the maker and the viewer connect with something. If you feel compelled to contribute, come collaborate and help craft something that belongs outdoors. To get involved, send a statement outlining the proposed piece, materials, and its location on site to hilltalk@thehillhub.ca.
* There is the possibility of utilizing materials observed on location. With a strong focus on conservation and blending into or harmonizing with the natural surroundings, materials such as, but not limited to, rock formations, boulders, stone, mosses, suckering trees (e.g., willow, hazelnut, maple), fire-smarted wood, and deadfall could be considered for inclusion in a proposal.
“Because when you describe human behavior—or the behavior of a mouse, or a rat, or a chicken, or anything you want to describe—you find that, as you try to describe its behavior accurately, you must also describe the behavior of its environment.”
– Alan Watts
